Hyatt House Austin Arboretum
Let me start by saying, my trip to Austin was primarily for work so my company booked the hotel. This hotel is your typical standard 3-star hotel. There are only two things to note. It was extremely clean and the breakfast was pretty bad. I always inspect every hotel room before I actually put my things down; to make sure its clean and there are no red flags (beg bugs). My room at the Hyatt House passed my inspection with flying colors. When I did my “piece of my cleaning” I found that everything was actually as clean as it appeared. The location was good, it was close to shopping and restaurants.
Hope Outdoor Gallery
Hands down my favorite thing I did in Austin was visiting the Hope Outdoor Gallery! I am a graffiti & mural hunter. So, when I read about the gallery; I knew I had to check it out. It was super dope. There were graffiti artists working on new art on the spot, and you can even write your own tag!
6th Street
Ask anybody in Austin and they’ll tell you 6th street is the place to be! 6th street is a long strip of shops, restaurants, bars, and culture. I enjoyed strolling along 6th street all the shops had pretty unique or kitschy items. Sugar and Paris was my favorite shop. It smelled amazing and had some very nice bags and hats. While on 6th street I had to make a stop at my next notable…
Austin Motel
This is an Austin landmark. The hotel was basically the beginning of what is now 6th street. The sign is beautiful with its cool retro feel. The current store that houses the gift shop was one of the first businesses south of Congress.
Uber Bike
After visiting the Austin Motel, I decided to ride back to my car using an UBER Bike this was my first time using the bike rental service Uber offers and I must say it was pretty cool. It cost me $2 for a 1-hour ride and was pretty easy to operate. I was seeing the bright red “Jump” bikes all over and decided to give it a try.
360 Overlook (PennyBacker Bridge Trail)
The 360 overlook is a hiking trail that leads to a beautiful view of the city. It is definitely a breathtaking view. It would be the perfect place to have a picnic. Here’s the problem its riddle with tourist lol! Good luck getting a picture with no one in it or finding a quiet place to just soak in the view. My advice is to go early!
Greetings from Austin mural and the Austin Texas Mural
Austin has lots of murals. There are several that just scream hey Instagram I am in Austin! LOL
The Grub
I ate Pappadeaux’s pretty much every night! They serve Cajun/Louisiana cuisine and it is delicious. I would suggest trying the catfish, etouffee, and the alligator. The place is so familiar to me I forgot to take pictures.
Cypress Grill
Let’s be clear whenever I get the chance to have Louisiana Cuisine… I take it! I had the gumbo and Cajun pasta. Great food and great customer service.
Kerby Lane Grill
Stopped here for breakfast. It came highly recommended for its french toast. It did not disappoint! Great price and portion size.
Hula Hut
This place is all about the view. Its right on the water and there were fish, turtles, swans, and ducks right there while you eat. The food was pretty tasty, but the drinks were just mediocre.
Nightlife
For our nightlife experience we decided to check out “dirty 6th street”, apparently there’s a classier side of 6th street. We had a blast! 6th street at night is a strip full of clubs with NO COVER! We went into a couple of bars but the one I remember most was Buck Wild. There a mechanical bull inside and you stand around a ring and cheer people on!
