Every year for my birthday I plan a “Bucket List Trip”. This is actually only the second year but I hope to continue it annually. This year after plans falling through on 3 other destinations, I gave up on the trip. I had gotten a new apartment and had blown my travel budget. There were a couple of destinations still in my budget but I had been to all of them. The goal of a bucket list trip is to see somewhere I’ve never seen. Then 3 days before my birthday I used the google explore page only to find that I could go to Reno all on my frequent flier miles, but what the hell is in Reno I asked?. I googled it and became really excited but what I saw.
Heres My Instagram guide to Reno:
1. Lake Tahoe
After seeing photos of Lake Tahoe’s sand, water, and snow-covered mountains. I was sold!! I could wait to lay there in my bikini and listen to the sounds of water while reflecting on another year of life.
2. Virginia City
Virginia City is one of the oldest American mining cities. I love all things retro I was super excited to check out Virginia City. Heres what they don’t tell you its at the top of a freaking mountain. I was SCARED for my life driving up that damn mountain. So scared I cut my time in Virginia City short to ensure I didn’t have to drive down that mountain in the dark. Its a definite must-see if you’re interested in the times past.
3. Mount Rose HWY Overlook
The Mount rose overlook gives you a 360-degree breathtaking view of Lake Tahoe. MUST SEE!
4. Reno Arch
This one is pretty obvious. The Reno Arch is the must-have photo opportunity that reminds you what city you visited when you look back at the photos. They were having a live music event the day I was there so It was super busy and getting this pic was challenging. I suggest you arrive early for prime shooting time.
5. Downtown Reno
I am a mural hunter ( someone who hunts dope mural art) and downtown Reno is filled with art, murals, and sculptures! There were people outside battle rapping, skateboarding, and cycling. It was a cool artsy atmosphere.
5. Playa Del Arts Park
There is a small park in Reno that has some of the sculptures that were donated from the burning man festival. I am a lover of interactive arts so another must-see in my book.
